Fax Broadcasting DescriptionFax Broadcasting is the faxing of a document to a long list of recipients. It is conducted using faxing capabilities on a computer and communications network. The use of fax broadcasting is most effective if your message is targeted to businesses or professionals, is brief, and does not require the use of color or intricate graphics. The use of fax for marketing purposes is restricted by law to only those with whom you have a pre-existing business relationship. For appropriate audiences, fax can be very effective. Because the volume of faxes is much less because of the laws and because a fax usually is received in paper form and is handled, a well designed fax message is always noticed. How Does It WorkThe client provides DataMart with a list of fax numbers, a document to be faxed and instructions. The fax list is emailed to DataMart in one of a wide-variety of allowable formats; the most common being an Excel spreadsheet, a comma-delimited ASCII file, an Access table or a .DBF table. DataMart registers the list, changes any old area codes and deletes unwanted duplicates or fax numbers flagged for delete. The list can be retained at DataMart for as long as desired. The document is emailed to DataMart as a Word document or a .PDF file or is faxed directly into DataMart’s computer network. DataMart will render the document into a fax image. The client establishes a set of default instructions during new client setup. Such things as resolution, number of retries, allowable hours for faxing, fax headers and personalization are defined. For each broadcast, the business sends such instructions as when to begin the broadcast and whether a proof is required. Once the broadcast is complete, DataMart faxes or emails the summary and detail reporting to the client.
